How Eventful: Iron Fork 2013

We are members of the Collective Bias Social Fabric community.  We have been compensated to share our experience with you by Collective Bias and their client, MasterCard.

Miami Spice is in full swing and we were lucky enough to be on site for it’s annual kick-off, Iron Fork! For the night’s festivities, the Arsht Center was to house over 40 of South Florida’s best restaurants. Hungry patrons get unlimited samples from each eatery… and yes, we said unlimited. We got there nice and early to make sure we could pace ourselves since there were a LOT of booths. Every nook and cranny of the Arsht Center held edible surprises of every kind from cupcakes to ceviche. Thankfully, the portions were perfect — even a tinier bite bigger would’ve been way too much. (Especially since we hit a few of our favorites booths at least twice.)

Aside from the yummy eats, the Chef Showdown between Chef Jamie DeRosa (of Tongue & Cheek) and Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli (of Eating House) was awesome! Each contender was given less than hour to create a three course meal using a table of ingredients that was unveiled only at the beginning of the competition. It was such a treat to watch them in action, doing their best to impress the panel of judges. In the end, Chef Rapicavoli came out on top! Eating House is definitely a favorite amongst the TCP team (pasta carbonara FTW), as is DeRosa’s Tongue & Cheek. T&C has some of the best oysters we’ve ever had.

Now if tasting some of Miami’s most well-done culinary experiences isn’t your thing… Iron Fork is also the best way to start a list of where to eat during Miami Spice. The food festival features prix-fixe meals for set prices, allowing you to make up just about any excuse to go out for dinner. Girls night, date night, any night
