Spotlight on Homestead FL: Schnebly Winery

Did you know that South Florida has its own version of Napa Valley? Well you are definitely in for a treat as soon as you step into the lovely property of the Schnebly winery located in Homestead, FL.

This winery was established in 2004 and is home to the tastiest variety of tropical fruit wines. Upon arrival, it reminded me of a plantation home located in the outskirts of New Orleans. The winery is surrounded by farmland, lush greenery, and tranquility.

Upon entry, I was immediately greeted by a staff member and escorted to the bar for the wine tasting. The wine tasting consisted of a list of table wines, sparkling wines, and dessert wines. Unfortunately, lychee (their prized wine) was not available due to a bad lychee season and it was only available by the bottle. Among my favorite wines were the guava, sweet avocado, and the mango.  I was already feeling light headed and it was only 10:30am. YIKES! A wine birdie even told me that they are currently testing to make the perfect pineapple and orange wine. I really hope those flavors will hit the Schnebly wine shelves soon. They even have a beer tasting area and offer daily tours of the facility.

After the wine tasting, my boyfriend and I headed to their beautiful spacious backyard. It was surrounded by huge private tiki huts that could hold 100-500 guests, koi river ponds, and waterfalls. This venue is the perfect spot for a party, wedding, or a first date.

I HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone & to put this on their “to do” list in South Florida. FYI, I think it’s better to go during the weekday if you want to have a great one on one wine tasting experience. During the weekend, the winery is filled anywhere between 600-800 people and the bar is usually 3-4 people deep.
