A Venezuelan Treat: La Coriana

Found an amazing deal at Living Social for La Coriana — $6 for $12 worth of food & drink. I’ve also never had Venezuelan food and it was right around the corner of where I live so I was really looking forward to trying something new. (They have two locations: Miramar & Doral)

I was a bit skeptical about the place because when Graham & I drove right by — IT WAS EMPTY. (Don’t let the emptiness fool you!)

The menu had foods from empanadas, arepas to different kinds of burgers.

We ordered 2 different items of food each and shared. (Best way of trying new foods!)

I ordered the Patacon with shredded beef which is a sandwich but instead of two slices of bread, it is two slices of fried plantains! The combination of the beef with the cheddar cheese and all those sauces were heavenly. The second thing I had ordered was an arepa with shredded beef and cheddar cheese called the La Pelua. For those that do not know what an arepa is: the arepa is a flat, round, unleavened patty made of cornmeal or flour which can be grilled, baked, boiled, or fried.

It was so good but I could not finish it! (And I really wanted to!) The foods they have are very filling and satisfying. Both the Arepa and the Patacon were only $6 each.

I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
